Inventor of Kannada typewriter



Anantha Subbaraya invented the Kannada typewriter in 1933 . It was named as "Anantha Keyboard". This invention made a revolutionary change in the early days, as people believed that typewriters in English were the only possibility, since it had 26 letters, and that without changing the Kannada alphabet a typewriter would not be feasible.
He started the first Kannada daily in Hassan, in 1952. He had a scientific bent of mind.
In 1930, he invented shorthand in Kannada, and published “Sharada Kannada Sheegralipi,” to help people learn shorthand.
The contributions made by this scholar to Kannada literature is invaluable.
